Miami - Part One

As we had such an amazing time in Miami (and took a million photos), we are going to have to split this post into 2 because there is just way too many awesome photos for just one post. So here we go!

This was our shonky little hostel room for the first night in Miami. We only booked this place because with all the excitement of Disney World we kind of forgot to book somewhere to stay in Miami. So the night before we arrived was filled with a lot of searching the internet and this is all we could find. Now it doesn't look to bad and it honestly wasn't the worst hostel we'd stayed in but the air conditioner rattled all night and the guy in the bed below us was a total jerk.... so much so when we left in the morning we turned the a/c off so the room would be stinking hot when he returned.

Yes the hostel was called Bikini. Kristian is channeling his inner Miami bimbo.

Kristian being a good researcher, found the Miami International Motor Show was on the first day we arrived so needless to say we spent a few hours roaming around and looking at cool cars.

A McLaren.

For our second night in Miami we found this cool little place called Maxines, it had delicious food.

The most amazing Taco pizza and chicken carbonara at Maxines.

After our night at the hostel Kristian managed to find us a lovely hotel right near the beach. It was so lovely that we extended out stay two more nights (from 3 to 5). Anyway this is the beach across the street from our hotel, it was really nice and no where near as crowded as the popular South Beach.

After Kristian had a dip he decided to turn himself into a merman. He was and still is very proud of his efforts (and if you look closely he even made some boobs!).

Sun starting to set.

Turns out he dug himself in to deep and got a little stuck....

This is our super nice pool at our hotel. Now we never actually swam in it because it was either cold due to lack of solar heating or storming. But we did sit by it everyday in the little pod you can see on your right.

What made this hotel even better was that we received complimentary cocktails each night. Kristian demolished his one very quickly as you can tell.

One of our numerous delicious dinners we had in Miami. And for once it wasn't a burger/ribs/hot dog, we both had crazy delicious pasta.

This is a quick shot of Lincoln Road Mall, which is a huge closed road lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and upmarket stores. Even better it was only a 20 minute walk from our hotel.

A trip to Miami wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Everglades and an airboat ride.

Ready to see some gators.

We were lucky enough to get on the front row of the air boat which allowed us to get some good photos.

Our first gator. Pretty sure this one is named Lily because she hides under the lily pads.

You will see the man at the top of the picture, well he was our guide and he was hilarious. We took some videos of him because he was just that good.

The endless Everglades, click for a better view

Baby gator

Our trip to Gator Park included a wildlife show. Basically the guy pictured showed us a toad, some small gators and a scorpion, which was pretty cool.

He also demonstrated "gator wrestling" which is how the Native Indians used to catch gators.

Jaws, the super tiny baby gator.

Pretty sure we would make excellent air boat captains.

So many gators!

Our cool airboat.

Kristian with his new mates, they were very feisty.

When we got back to our hotel after the gator tour we ran across to the beach to see the storm coming in. It was actually a lot darker than it appears in the photo, the storm was nuts.

Anyway for now we will leave it at that.
Check in a day or so and we will post photos from our day trip to Key West.
Hope everyone is well.

Lauren & Kristian.
